Babycakes is beginning to feel very comfortable at Nana & Papa’s house and that only means one thing…
Trouble.
Yesterday morning, before I could even get a cup of coffee in my body, ‘Cakes opened the cabinet containing the dog food & began to hand out dog treats like she was in the Macy’s parade. She followed this by feeding the dogs three different flavors of Special K.
Today’s obsession began with the dogs’ water bowl. My mama’s dog is a yellow lab and her water bowl is fit for Clifford. First she just sat next to the bowl with “that look” in her eyes. Then her fingers began to dance in the bowl. “No, no. That’s for the puppies.” Two minutes later, it was spilled and her pajamas were wet. I took ’Cakes & Little E upstairs to get them ready for the day. We picked out clothes, brushed hair, put on our socks, and finally Little E went to preschool. Without the distraction of a preschool age cousin, Babycakes was back in front of the water bowl. “No, no. That’s for the puppies.” So she turned on the CD player and began to dance a jig. She wiggled and giggled herself, arms flapping…
right into the dogs’ bowl with a splash.

Little E came home from preschool with a tattle on her tongue.
“Papa is ruining my life,” she declared. She was scolded for sassing her dear grandpa on the way home from preschool. Upon entering his car she demanded that he “turn down that music. It’s giving me a headache!”

The wee ones are watching a movie on the Disney Channel about an Irish boy who loses his luck. I’m not sure that it’s on her approved list of television shows… ask her about Sponge Bob and she’ll tell you this:
“Sponge Bob does not teach you anything. It just makes you stupid.”

My dad just walked back into the house and was greeted by an empty drawer of dishtowels. He scooped up Babycakes and said…
“Come here you little homewrecker!”

Just one last question — why would a furniture company build a curio cabinet that doesn’t lock? It’s an uphill battle keeping a toddler out of a glass cabinet full of Disney collectibles. There’s just no babyproofing grandma’s house!
