Squatters & Hoarders
I’m just going to say it… my dining room is something straight out of Hoarders right now. As we’ve been packing and mentally calculating the weight & cost to move things, we’ve decided that letting go of all that extra stuff is the way to go. And so far, it’s only gone as far as the dining room.
We are having a moving sale on Saturday. It’s our chance to unload the books that have been collecting dust, to give a new home to glassware tucked inside cabinets, and for all those unflattering clothes to find new bodies.
Less stuff = less cleaning. Less stuff = less anxiety. Less stuff = time spent more wisely.
And because our dining room looks like a yard sale and because there are boxes everywhere, we returned from the beach to find squatters inhabiting our house. Small squatters who have taken up residence in a Melissa & Doug fire station. Smart squatters who continually manage to elude my attempts at capture.
I once use to permit them to keep their lives if they would hop into my tupperware containers and return to the woods, but this time… Mama ain’t playin’.
One thing you may not have known about a mouse… if you scare them & chase them around your house, they will run so fast that they’ll lose their footing and slide on their bellies across your dining room floor. It is hilarious and disgusting all at once.
They heard that we are moving, so they will likely hold their ground and wait for the bank to transfer the deed.
The Big Move
We still don’t know where we’re going yet, but I’m looking forward to a fresh start in a new town. There’s a big adventure just waiting to unfold!
