Whether you consider yourself crafty or NOT, a tutu made from fabric tulle is the easiest spirit wear to make for your little one.  It’s also inexpensive, too!

To make a fluffy tutu for your favorite gal, you’ll first need multiple yardage of tulle fabric in your team’s colors and a piece of 3/4 inch elastic sized to fit.  For Ellie’s tutu, we used 4 yards of red & 3 yards of black.

Next, begin cutting 6″ x 22″ strips in both colors.  Once the strips are cut, you can begin tying the tulle onto the elastic.  To tie, fold the strip in half length-wise and place the tulle behind the elastic.  Take the two end pieces over top of the elastic and pull them through the top loop.  This will result in a knot on the elastic.

Keep tying and tying and tying until you reach the end of your premeasured elastic.  Sew the ends of elastic together with a sewing machine {or by hand} and then cover your stitches by spreading the tulle over it.  If you have some tulle left over, you may consider making a matching tutu for your best girl’s doll baby.

Add some leggings & a favorite t-shirt and you have an adorable outfit for your next football game.

By the way, dogs do NOT appreciate tulle.

Win or lose, she is ready for the game!
