Teaching patience in our house is difficult, especially when it involves something really special.  Last year, we started a new tradition of spending Thanksgiving at the beach.  We recently made the mistake of mentioning that to Ellie and because she has no concept of time, she continually asks us if today is the day.

This afternoon, we made a super simple calendar for the month of November that will allow us to count down the days until our holiday trip to Kure Beach.

We picked up some supplies at Walmart, but mostly used items from our craft stash to make our calendar.

Necessary Materials:

Items to Embellish:
  • Fabric scraps
  • Buttons
  • Scrapbook paper

Check out my video tutorial to make the world’s most simple calendar:

  5. Love your calendar and concept to make a stylish one to countdown to an event for your daughter. I think I’ll try one for December for my boys to help them count through and know where there Daddy is on the road recruiting…and when we leave for a bowl game/Christmas/New Years.

And I have to say I’m a bit envious you make it somewhere as a family at Thanksgiving…it’s just a normal game week for us!
