Sometimes

Our world is currently dominated by conversation with Cakes providing the play-by-play action.  I love listening to her explore language & make sense of new words.  The past two days she has enjoyed playing with the words “sometimes” and “some time”.

Yesterday, while I took a quick shower, she entered my bathroom with a pillow, blanket, a baby doll, & Hattie and the Fox.  She quickly set up camp and read to her baby — she was content long enough that I could shave my legs.  {Hooray!}

“You done, Mom?”  she yelled.

“Almost,” I responded.

“I get the door for you.  Here ya go, Mom.  Oh, Mom!  You’re wet.  Your boobies are all wet.  That’s funny, Mom.  You better dwy off & bwush your hair.”

“Yes, thank you, dear.”

“Mom?”

“Yes, dear.”

“Mom?  Sometimes I cry.”

“Yes, sometimes you do cry.”

“Sometimes, I just *have* to cry.  Mom?”

“Yes, dear.”

“Some time, I want to go to Coney Island.”

“We’ll work on that.”

  1. I can’t wait to see pictures from Coney Island!

    Kids say the darndest things…I go back and forth between wanting MJ to talk in phrases and sentences I can comprehend and kind of dreading it. At least I’ll have great blogging material, right?!
