When nightmares of a sports mascot keep your toddler (and you) up ALL night long & if she wakes for the day at 5:45 am, there is really only one solution: MORNING NAP. Since climbing from her crib almost two weeks ago, it has been a struggle to convince Cakes to sleep in her bed at naptime.
I can’t always let her call the shots — afterall, she’s the kid & I’m the adult. She begs me to lay down with her, but then will spend the next thirty minutes poking my eyeballs and picking my nose. Instead, each day at naptime, we read a story, then I tuck her in, and CLOSE her door. She does not approve. To demonstrate her disapproval, she enjoys laying on the floor kicking the door. When the banging stops, I know that she has kicked herself to sleep. Then I quietly and carefully push her body with the door, scoop her up, and place her in the “big girl bed”.
Today, I tucked her in and closed the door. Strangely, there was no banging, kicking, or thrashing about. Just peace. Mid-way through my last blog post, I went to check on her…

Hello Stanley Steamer:)
and to remind me not to sweat the small stuff, right?
Oh my…. what a mess!!! I’m sure that you can think of so many better things to do on any given afternoon besides clean that mess up! It’ll get better soon! And then you may actually miss these times…. maybe.
Hopefully she didn’t eat any!
I just love your videos…
And just think of the great stories you’ll have to share at the family dinner table for years to come. I agree with The Monogram Shop – you have the patience of a saint. Although, what’s that they say…you can laugh or you can cry and you have sense enough to laugh!
