Just Call Me Mary Moon
’cause I’m the newest vegetarian on the block.

The Football Wife is angry.
When I found out a couple months ago that there’s BPA in our canned goods, I emptied my pantry. Now this…
Do you know where your food comes from?
Last night while I was preparing dinner, I decided to finally watch the documentary Food, Inc. (If you have Netflix, you can watch it online.) Within ten minutes, I was crying. I’ve recently begun to feel uncomfortable while singing Old MacDonald with Babycakes or watching all those sweet animals grazing on her Baby Einstein movies knowing that somewhere … you know, they’re dinner.
Watching Food, Inc. made me want to run out and rescue all the baby chicks in the whole wide world. Companies are controlling the farming industry — the birds are being pumped full of food and antibiotics. They’re little organs can’t handle their rate of growth — it used to take 70 days to grow a chicken and now they do it in 49 days. They can barely walk.
So, that’s it. I’m done with meat & I’m going to turn my garage into a shelter for baby chicks.

On a positive note, you should know that Stonyfield Farm is legit, baby. They were interviewed in this documentary and now I feel the need to make a pilgrimage to New Hampshire to thank them for making delicious and healthy food for my family.
They recently sent me a handwritten note with coupons to try out a new product. Here’s a photo of someone cute & small trying out the new food:

They want to give you something, too.

Oh, yes…I’ve read some of Michael Pollan’s books a few years ago (the only title I can remember right now is _The Omnivore’s Delimma_) but it totally changed the way I thought about food. I saw the Food, Inc. was On Demand and my husband is dreading watching it with me!
Those baby chicks are super cute. Almost as cute as your Babycakes.
