2009

This past year found me knee deep in the throes of motherhood — the sleepless nights, nursing every three hours, & devoting every waking second to a sometimes fussy & demanding infant. It’s in that first year of motherhood when you realize that simple things like grocery shopping will become a chore and that you will never pee alone EVER again.
2009 also found me so deeply in love — not just with Coach, but with this little girl who has totally captured my heart. It’s big love, baby. Making the above collage brought me to tears — this year went by too fast! The year began with a wiggly, big-eyed, bald headed three month old & ended with an independent, Elmo-obsessed, dare devil.
In just one year, she learned to crawl & then to walk. By the year’s end, she could climb — over the gate, onto the counter, & up and down step stools. She can balance on top of her toys, use the DVR on the remote control, & make long distance telephone calls. She babbled, then said “hello”, & now likes to sing “E-I-E-I-O”. She calls me “Mama”. When she hugs, she wraps her arms around my neck. She likes to touch my face. It makes me forget about all those L O N G nights.
Here’s to the next year!

I found your blog from Lake Norman Mommies! It’s my new favorite. Keep writing! SO entertaining. My DD will be 1 in January – it has gone so fast. She’s finally sleeping through tne night. Good luck with the goals. She sure is precious!
I love the collage too. The picture of Babycakes in the bumbo seat is too cute.
Every time you describe how Babycakes climbs on everything it reminds me of how my mother said I behaved. I kept her hands full for sure so I can imagine that your days are quite busy.
