I’m telling you why…
Little E is coming to town!
If you’re not familiar with Little E, she is my sister’s daughter, and you can read about her here & here. She is turning four this month — my dad still refers to her as “the baby”. For example, “I just dropped the baby off at preschool”.
A few days ago, my mom took Little E to the mall to do some shopping. In the center court, complete with decorations & an elf was Santa Claus. She paused, gave him a little wave, and wondered if they might go back to visit him. They finished their shopping, but when they returned to visit Santa, he was on his lunch break. They decided to wait.
When Santa reappeared in his Christmas throne, my mom prepped Little E for her visit. “Keep your fingers out of your nose. Be a nice girl.” With her hands in her pocket, she approached Santa.
“Ho, ho, ho. What’s your name?”
*Eyes rolling in her head*

I’m with her. He can remember what everyone wants, but we have to tell him our name? what the heck?
