I’m laughing at writing that title, because nothing is easy with a toddler in tow.
Nothing.
Those with more than one… God Bless You.
You are a rockstar.

Yesterday, Coach got an invitation for a playdate with a professor on campus. Did he want to go to the man cave & watch football? I encouraged him to go – it would at least give our sofa & television a break. “So,” he asked me, “What are you girls going to do today?” I told him that we would be going grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s.
“That’ll be fun. It’ll be good for you to get out of the house.”
As Babycakes and I were walking through the frozen food section and she launched yet another toy from the cart whilst screaming, I wondered at what point would this excursion be considered “fun“?
We were in Trader Joe’s for less than 45 minutes. It will take me hours to Christmas shop. Luckily, I did some of my shopping online for my nieces & nephews. However, at some point VERY SOON, I will have to brave the mall. Otherwise, Coach will find his stocking empty and we certainly can’t have that.
First, I think I’ll create a poll where everyone can guess how many minutes we were able to shop before Babycakes turns into the Incredible Hulk and starts knocking down holiday displays and gets banned from Macy’s.

Anyway…
The gift I’m most excited about is for my 11 year old nephew. He likes to cook — fun! Really, he likes to bake because he likes to eat sweets. A few years ago, he surprised everyone by asking for an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas. Santa heard his plea and he was soon mixing up brownies in his bedroom. This year, he is getting “kid’s kitchen” which is a set of 40 recipe cards from Barefoot Books. Babycakes and I went to Ikea and got him an apron and some spoons to go along with it. I’m going to personalize his apron by adding his initial. Coach thinks we should have gotten him something a little more daring. Men!
My three year old niece, Lilly, is getting Zig Zag Zebra & Dotty Spotty Doodles. I found a crayon roll tutorial at Skip to My Lou, so I’m going to be brave and try to tackle that little project, too! I hope it’s as easy as it looks! Anyone have any experience with these??

Sew cute!

Thank you for all the encouraging words about the lack of sleep at The Football House. I wish I could say that we were seeing an improvement, but the Babes was up ALL NIGHT LONG. I feel bad for her, too. I know she’s not doing it on purpose, but I’m starting to reconsider the boots I asked for for Christmas to ask for…
(*sing along, now!*)
All I Want for Christmas is a GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP
a GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP
just a GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP
Gee if I could only have a GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP
Then I could function like a human wish you Merry Christmas!

Isn’t it funny how guys think that grocery shopping, or shopping with our littles at all, is “fun” and a getaway….oy vei. I will hope that you can get your “Good Night’s Sleep.” Just stopping by from SITS.
Oh, where did you get the yoga pretzel thing? I would love to get something like that for Bella. We did an “ondemand” ABC yoga a few times last summer and she loved it and still asks about it.
I often go grocery shopping at 8pm b/c my kids are in bed and Matt can stay home with them. I do brave the store with both of my kids on a regular basis though and I do kind of feel like I’ve been on an all night bender with a rock band after about an hour and a half. Now all I need is a pair of leather pants.
That crayon roll is adorable.
I often think beforehand that taking out three boys at a time is a huge chore but when actually do it, they do fine. It must be a motivation thing for me.
Happy shopping!
All I can say is that having you for a Mommy has got to be Babycakes best gift!!! You, even in your lack of sleep, never seem to miss the beauty of the moment!! Even if toys are flying out of the cart!!
I HATE shopping with my kids. I will do anything to avoid taking 4 kids – 3 of them 5 and under out in public together. Anything.
And can I borrow your Christmas song? My 9 month old has 3 or 4 teeth coming in at the same time and I haven’t had a full night’s sleep since ….. I was 7 months pregnant.
Swinging in from SITS!
I sympathize with you on the lack of sleep issues. I wish I could say it gets better…but I’m still experiencing this with my youngest, my 4yo, and it hasn’t gotten better for us. He has been up every day for the past week at 3:10am…on the spot! My kids have never been sleepers, but with a little tease of sleeping through the night for a few months and now this, it’s like Chinese torture! What I can say is that your body does eventually get used to it…at least we did. And then, when all are sleeping through the night, I find myself wide awake!!! Good luck…this too shall pass! (And find comfort in knowing that while you’re up where you are…we probably are here, too!!)
