Like a Story that had just begun…

by Sara on October 23, 2009

I was all set with a clever post for today, but then Coach received a tragic message just as he was walking out the door.  Did I remember RC from our first season here?

When someone dies, we seem to get our emotions and words confused.  No one ever seems to know exactly what to say, so we say things like, “I know how you’re feeling.”  Do you?  Or we say, “He’s in a better place.”  Perhaps.  Would you tell that to his mother who is lost in grief or to a brother who has lost his blood?  If you don’t know what to say, just say nothing.  Being there is best.  Listen and do so with open arms.  A warm embrace to someone in pain is great comfort.

Tomorrow’s game will be played in his honor.

I suggested yesterday that you take a moment to enjoy the blessings in your life.  Find a quiet moment and really concentrate on all the good that your life holds.  Shrug off the small stuff that bothers you.  Seek joy.  Hug your dear ones tightly.

Though I can’t be there…I can still listen, and I can tell you that my arms are around you all today and I am hugging you with my heart and my prayers. You ARE one of the greatest blessings in my life and I love you!
