Who else is having a hard time
staying focused?
Life with a one year old is challenging. I feel like I can never get caught up on anything — laundry, dishes, toys, & projects. For example, on Thursday, while I tried to load the dishwasher, she stole the english muffins from the bread drawer, dragged them to the living room, and began taking bites out of each one. Later that afternoon, while I was brewing a pot of coffee (it’s a survival skill), she threw her binky in the toilet. At least she doesn’t know how to flush… yet. By the time Coach returned home from practice, the house was destroyed by HURRICANE BABYCAKES. As I made one last attempt at normalcy — making dinner — our sweet little toddling girl ate a dead fly. This is why I never get to work on any projects…
The other reason I never get any projects done is because I am scatter-brained. I want to do it all. I want to sew a dress, make a quilt, paint a birdie, and learn to decoupage.
It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.

For Babycakes’s birthday party, I decided that I want to make some fabric pennants or buntings. Cute, huh? Yesterday, we went to The Quilter’s Loft which is just about the cutest shop EVER. I felt very inadequate buying five fat quarters while others were talking about the quilts they were sewing. I don’t even know how to use a rotary cutter. I am, however, very good with scissors. So good, in fact, that I used to help my kindergarten classmates cut out their work. I got in trouble. The other girl got held back. Moving on…
Our football game is not until 6 pm — let’s see if this wife can actually get a project started & completed in the same day.
Wish me luck.
