Abundance

The word of the day is

Abundance.

I read a blog post today by a mother in Kansas — she is exhausted, she is beat down by the world, in fact she “wants a sabbatical” from her life.  We all feel that way from time to time, but that’s the moment when we need to chin up and be thankful for everything that’s going right in our lives.  What does abundance mean to you?

Author Candy Paull says, “The art of abundance is about celebrating life right now, this minute.  It is a way of looking at the potential your life holds — the little blessings to be thankful for now and the gifts that God wants to give you, if you’ll open your heart to receive them.  It’s about being enthusiastic about life every day, not just on the rare occasions when everything seems to be going your way.”

Abundance is…  watching a baby gobble a veggie burger & apples.

Abundance is…  100 football players on the sidelines.

Abundance is… a new birthday dress.

Abundance is… having a family to come home to every night.

Abundance is… a pass completion for a first-down.

Abundance is… your husband’s socks on the floor (because that means you are blessed to have a life companion).

Abundance is… your dog barking wildly to notify the neighborhood of your arrival.

Abundance is… a friend who tells you what off-sides means.

Abundance is… a phonecall from a friend.

Abundance is… dancing with someone 25″ tall to the Beach Boys in the middle of A.C. Moore

Abundance is… birdies eating in the food court at the mall.

Abundance is… faith, family, friends… oh, and football.

Did you take time to notice the little things in life today?

Leave a comment & tell me how you were abundantly blessed today!

I can’t believe you haven’t had any commenters on this fantastic post!

I heartily agree with both sides that you mentioned: how lovely a sabbatical from life sounds as well as appreciating how good this life is.

In the Punk household:

Abundance is … a pile of drawings of ninjas in various poses and actions. Very well drawn ninjas.

Abundance is … our barely coherent toddler saying “Is this the Beatles?” Sheer awesome.

Abundance is … Rock Band at 10:30 at night, and bagels and coffee in the morning.

Abundance is … the potential for greatness in my children, and the faith that they will fulfill that potential.

Abundance is … my husband saying, “Whatever will make you happy” and then laughing when I smack him.

My little piece of this life is good. Thanks for reminding me.

Abundance really is in the details. I wish I had the wherewithall to write a really cute comment like Punk, but that dang DD girl gave me caffiene at 10:15 last night and she was out of mocha. I suppose in that situation Abundance was the company I was keeping.
I find an abundance of joy throughout the day in my kids and what comes out of their mouths and in Bella’s desire to be good.
And in Springer fashion, my final thought for the day,
Abundance is in knowing that you are doing God’s will and that regardless of what today holds the future is in His hands.

Abundance is…my son feeling well enough to walk into the Harvest Festival with his friends.

Abundance is…a phone call from my Dad which means his medicine is working.

Abundance is…the fact that my husband is napping just so he can stay up and watch a movie with me tonight.

Abundance is…a text from my nephew telling us they won their game.

Abundance is…having a niece who writes what I am feeling…and whose heart I always recognize.

Abundance is…my phone ringing off the hook because my family wants to know how he is doing.

Abundance is…knowing that no matter what God is always there.

My abundance today was… Watching some great football and listening to my college team, TCU on the radio (they won 30-14).
….. Listening to the rain while surrounding by two dogs; all of us awaiting our coach to come home.
….. Having a quiet dinner at a whole in the wall italian place :)
…. Having friends who understand what football season is really like.

Peace, love, and football
Hilary

p.s. enjoyed this post :)

Abundance is seeing your children using the gifts God has given them…and smiling with a grateful heart.

Abundance is embracing who we are…

Abundance is…
being reminded that something you said or wrote is meaningful to others.
(is it tacky to leave a comment on a post that’s about your own book?).

Thank you, Sara, for posting this on the day I released my first e-book. And thank you for reminding me that you never know when, where, or how God is going to open the next door.

Abundance is…
New friends on the Internet.
