Babycakes learned how to crawl this week. Those of you with small children know that after that milestone, life is never the same. Your baby who once loved playing with toys suddenly has a fascination with electrical outlets, doorstops, & end tables. How will we ever survive the summer?
Go to the pool.
As a child, our summers were spent at the swimming pool at the end of the block. It was what we did between lunch & dinner and, if we were lucky, our parents would take us back to swim before bedtime. It made total sense to me to take Babycakes to the pool. There’s only one problem — we don’t have a pool membership.
There are two swim clubs in town — this hole of a swim club with a five-year-wait that is ridiculously overpriced. And then… there’s the Country Club. The CC has two pools — one deluxe pool with a lazy river & water slides and the other that’s a shallow, L shaped, Days Inn-like pool.
Can you guess which one we crashed?
When we arrived, Babycakes was giddy with excitement! A giant bathtub! Children! Splashing! Oh boy! We sat in the shallow end and splashed for an hour & met some new mommies and their children. Let’s just hope that they’re not on to us because we plan on going back… weekly daily.
