Moving

by The FW on April 1, 2009

Last winter, while attending a sports banquet on campus, I was introduced to the wife of a legendary coach from our school.  Now in her late sixties or seventies, she talked to me about her life as a coach’s wife.  Then the topic of moving came up and she asked, “How many schools has this been for you now?”  We moved once & this is my second school with Coach.  With a knowing smile, she responded,

“Good luck.  We moved 7 times.”

Most people move because they’ve been FIRED or HIRED.  This happens often in the coaching business.  Coaches start networking and every conversation starts to sound a little like a recitation of the resume.  Not us.  We love our school, so we’re not moving… far.

It’s an opportunity too incredible to pass up and so we’re under contract with the school to purchase a house through a special program they have for faculty and staff members.  Great, right?  Now we just need to get our house market ready — remember my posts about getting organized

The new house has a yard that is 10 times bigger than our current patch of grass.  Fur baby & Babycakes will have so much fun running and playing inside the fenced-in wonderland.  There’s a beautiful garden in the center just begging to be marked by a small white dog.  Inside, there are more cabinets, more closets, & even more showers.  Oh, but did I mention that this house is smaller than my house?  That there’s one less bedroom?  That I have to forfeit my craft room?  Oh, and no garage?  But that yard…
