Snow in the South

by The FW on March 2, 2009

It’s all over the news — a major snow storm in the South!  We watched The Weather Channel all day yesterday as they tracked the storm.  First they said it would be snowing by noon, then 2 o’clock, then 4 o’clock.  Finally, as I was tucking Babycakes into bed for the 6th time, the snow began to fall.

Big, fat, wet flakes quickly covered the landscape.  The thing about snow in the South is that people aren’t used to driving in it, don’t own boots or snow shovels, and the transportation department doesn’t know how to plow it.  This results in highways being shut-down & stranded motorists.  Perhaps the funniest thing about it was watching one of the neighborhood kids head outside to go sledding carrying a boogie board.

Our dog, clearly a Southerner, had no idea what to make of all this as he frantically searched for a blade of grass.

Snow Day

The snow is already melting under the intense afternoon sun & it’s creating some of the muddiest puddles you’ve ever seen.  Hopefully this will all clear up soon and we can go back to looking forward to Spring!
