Second String…

by The FW on March 5, 2009

This is for all the women in the world — when WE get sick, there is no sympathy, no calling in sick, and no second string to jump in the game.  No matter how hard you cough & how sore your throat gets, there is still laundry to wash, dust to wipe away, floors to clean, dinner to cook, piano lessons to teach, and 4 am. feedings for Babycakes.

Two boxes of tissues, 47 cups of teas, 2 bags of cough drops, & one trip to the Minute-Clinic and I’m finally starting to feel better.

After being sick for a few days, I got incredibly behind on the housework.  It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t inherit this defective gene from my Dad that can spot smudges with a glance.  And once I know that smudge is there, it’s like my skin starts to crawl until I can get at it with some Windex.  Of course, it’s hard to do much of anything (other than play!) with Babycakes, but until just now she wasn’t interested in a nap.  I kept thinking about all the cleaning I could get done if she would just fall asleep…

Then genius struck… I will bore her to sleep.  I wonder how many calories you burn when you vacuum with a 5 month old on your hip?
